(A)Sex - Blue Velvet: Volume Eleven

1. Don't You Fucking Look At Me
2. She Wore

as much as I'd love to purchase and post every single volume in cory strand's curated series of works based on blue velvet, that would take a lot of time, energy, and money, all of which are in short supply these days...for me, at least.

but I did pick up this one, a particularly savage release featuring two tracks by (a)sex, with whom I'm completely unfamiliar and are pretty much impossible to google. the artwork is my favorite across all of the releases in the series, so that's how I made my decision...

kind of arbitrary, but there you go.

and I'm totally pleased with my choice.

this isn't quite HNW, although it's close...there's a lot of great tonal variety here, with bits and pieces of the film's dialogue and music occasionally peaking through the chaos.

the packaging is simple but effective, and I highly recommend it...and if the rest of the blue velvet series is as great as this single release then I highly recommend purchasing the others, too.

hell, I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again - pick up anything and everything from altar of waste that piques your interest; every release I've heard has been thought-provoking and challenging, in all the best ways.

RVH - Brightly Lit Portholes

1. Oval-Shaped
2. Disc-Shaped
3. Sphere-Shaped
4. Crescent-Shaped

this double cassette of industrial, vaguely-melodic drones comes to us courtesy of strange rules.

I don't know who's behind the RVH moniker, but their work also appeared on the first strange rules compilation that I posted last year.

limited to 48 copies, this one is (obviously) sold out.

do any of zen's releases stay available for more than a week?

not that that's a bad thing - quite the opposite, actually. it's great to see these releases being so well-received and I love that everything is being shipped in such a timely manner.

strange rules remains one of my favorite cassette labels and all of their releases are essential.

still waiting for some new power electronics, though...but I'm sure we'll get something a little more violent soon enough.

1. The Rita - Ludmila Semenyaka
 2. Herukrat -  Woman On Beach With Head Turned
3. Herukrat - Red Imprint From Ankle Ribbon

as expected, more greatness these two acts.

I'm loving the rita's recent foray into the exploration of ballet techniques and herukrat just never fails to deliver.

released via nil by mouth, a label with an excellent track record.

a few copies are still available from analog worship via the link below, and I hear total black will be getting a few, too.

an obvious purchase.

1. P.I. - Colonial Rule
2. V. Sinclair - Fluroescent Pier
3. Plague Mother - Mist Of Ash
4. Purity Of Essence - Untitled

compilation released by mazurka editions in december of last year.

great material here with just enough range to keep things interesting - drone, dark ambient, and power electronics are all represented here by names with whom you should all be familiar.

really nice packaging too, with covers printed on transparent vellum paper.

somehow this is still in stock at unseen force - link is below. and there are a few copies available on discogs.
