Blodvite - Falskt Spektrum

1. Anachorein
2. Manipulerade Sinnen
3. Blödande Färger

here we have the newest blodvite tape, "falskt spektrum," released in may of this year by järtecknet. if you've enjoyed any of the label's previous releases, you'll definitely dig this one - it's nearly fifty minutes of noisy, industrial tape loops and manipulated field recordings.

everything is very distorted and very jagged, but viktor ottosson (who also runs järtecknet) definitely has an ear for these types of compositions - there are plenty of more ambient moments juxtaposed with the more industrial sounds that populate the majority of this recording. aside from simply letting the listener breathe, this down time also gives the harsh sections that much more impact.

the tape and j-card are manufactured and designed expertly. the former is clearly labeled with a sticker on each side while the latter is professionally printed on high-quality paper. I bought my copy from mount analog and you should, too - there's a link below. a few copies are also available on discogs, so feel free to go that route if you want....but why not support an independent label and an independent record store at the same time?

1. The Copper Roof Houses - Intro
2. Damien Dubrovnik - Women Of The History
3. Lust For Youth - I'm Down
4. Lust For Youth - Tied Hands
5. Lust For Youth - Rose Keller
6. Blodvite - Främlingen

first released on cassette by posh isolation, this is the vinyl version of "the copper roof houses," courtesy of järtecknet. originally compiled and sold for a european tour, this album features some of posh isolation's most high-profile artists.

ranging from the ambient noise of damien dubrovnik to the synth-based darkwave of lust for youth to the tape manipulations of blodvite, this might sound like a very disparate compilation, but listening to it, everything fits together perfectly. just like every other posh isolation (and järtecknet) compilation, the tracks are sequenced perfectly and there's just a very unified feel to the whole record. it's all very dark, discordant, and distant. not to mention deeply satisfying.

so if you've enjoyed anything on posh isolation or järtecknet, don't hesitate to pick this up on vinyl or cassette. there's one copy of the cassette on discogs right now, and the vinyl seems to be available both on discogs and in a couple online distros...and, of course, mount analog.

it's fitting that my first rip using my new cassette deck would also be my first järtecknet release. what a great one it is, and it's made even better thanks to the drastic increase in sound quality that my new deck has provided.

released in late 2012, this triple cassette compilation collects some of the best noise, power electronics and ambient acts that sweden has to offer. there's something for everyone here - tape manipulation, musique concrète, industrial noise, "no-fi" noise-rock, ambient field recordings, and harsh power electronics are all here in top-notch form. in fact, this probably would've made an appearance on my best-of list for 2012 had I heard it earlier.

even if you're not familiar with any of these acts, the fact that järtecknet is the sister label of posh isolation should be a great indicator of the stellar quality within. none of the tracks disappoint and I highly recommend this to all noise fans.

the three tapes come in a slim, hard plastic case with a small numbered booklet containing artist names, track titles, and artwork. it's all very minimalistic and quite elegant, and fits the music perfectly - a stunning package for a stunning collection of sound.

right now there's one copy for sale on discogs and one copy left at wax deli distro, where I got mine. limited to just ninety-one copies, I'm pretty sure it's sold out everywhere else, but feel free to look around - it's definitely worth picking up, and I give it my highest possible recommendation.
